Biarritz to Barcelona

After enduring all the shenanigans and hoopla of the World Cup, you decided to take a well earned break in the south of France. Biarritz is a favourite spot, especially in the good weather, and you may choose to just sit on the beach. However, this month, you’ve hardly had time to book in when you happen across a rich Spanish couple who need to get back home to Barcelona. Naturally you agree, and given that they need to stop off at Lourdes mid-journey, you have to plan accordingly.

The world’s largest, most popular and probably most fanatically observed sporting event occurs in June in Germany: the FIFA World Cup of Football (Soccer for you North Americans). Sixteen different cities will be hosting the games, starting in Munich June 9 and culminating in Berlin July 9. Since most will be glued to their television sets during this time, there probably won’t be much flying time in June. But you DO have an important mission. Your team and your fans NEED to get to Germany on time for the matches. Click here to get into the fray!

Flight Info: What could possibly be so difficult about an FS2002 flight ? For starters we're all used to nicely paved long runways, no excessive down or up slope, no trees on short final right before the threshold and much more. Throw all that away right now: you'll be facing the European Alps for a round trip. Take some extra underwear with you, just in case… Main goal of this flight is to fly some unfortunate skiers out of the Alps to an airport where they can receive thorough medical attention. And while you're at it, take some supplies with you, these "remote" airports are in dire need of a shipload of French wine to brighten up the après- ski parties. No one was found stupid enough to accept this flight, but you are not just any pilot…you're a toomuchfs.com pilot, capable of landing a 747 on a postage stamp…or close to.

This two leg flight is based upon an airstrip in the Canadian Arctic I came across during my Round the World flight in light aircraft. After an 800nm journey in a King Air, I descended into Broughton Is. with no approach plates etc. Also, I had never flown at these latitudes before & didn't realise that dusk would occur so early in the day. The approaching nightfall, a fast plane & a short strip meant I had 3 attempts before I actually landed!
