Flight Of The Month for May, 2004

Playing in the Inca’s Hilly Backyards

Alastair Monk

Our usually very conscientious and conservative airman, Alastair Monk pushes the envelope for a "little more altitude" on his visit to the Peruvian Andes. Did he make it back or just become another unfortunate example in the AOPA magazine? Find out in his June report.

Ron Blehm

Our Fearless Flounder spends his monthly flight trying to coax small piston engine planes through the high Andes and actually makes it in a couple of them. Once his hand was surgically detached from the mixture knob, he wrote this report.

Brad Quiring Brad Quiring may be Canadian by nationality but he has also become a Peruvian by residence and at heart. This month, Brad takes us to high places (literally!) as we take to the rarified air of the Andes and fly some of the most challenging and beautiful flights imaginable. The trip begins here.
Tony Radmilovich No hospital wards with sexy nurses or odd little flying machines here... just good, old fashioned scared passengers and flying preachers run amok. What the hell is he talking about? Find out here.

Bill Smith

What does a hospital ward have to do with the Flight Of The Month you ask? Well, this is Bill Smith we're talking about here. Our man in the Land of Oz (not necessarily Australia either) sent a few more postcards from the edge to keep us up to date on his travels.

Peter Stark This Fall (in Australia) has been hard on poor Peter. The annual wine grape harvest took a lot out of him and he just hasn't been the same since being accidentally trucked off with only his feet sticking out of a tote of grapes. While recovering, he took some time to wax poetic about musical instruments and a little flying. Read it here.
